All systems go for new rally

Exmoor Enduro ’09:

Tavern Motor Club

Tavern Motor Club are pleased to announce this new event to the 2009 endurance rally calendar, and aim to replicate the status and quality events that they are renowned for.

The Rally Bristowe was first run in 1964. It continued into the mid-eighties and was for many years included in the legendary Motoring News Championship. It was revised in the nineties as a Historic event. The Exmoor Endurance Rally ’09 will be an event based upon the very successful Endurance rally 1400 formula. The team are striving to organise another legendary event. All the Bristowe's were tough and very competitive and the new Exmoor Enduro promises to be no different.

The Organising team is being lead by Martin Clark who has been involved as Clerk of the Course or deputy on all the Bristowe's since1964.

This year the Exmoor Enduro event is being co-promoted with Minehead Motor Club, Burnham Motor Club and Chris House will be bringing all his knowledge of the area to the organising team.

The event will run on October 10/11 and be based around Minehead. There will be scrutineering on Friday evening and Saturday morning. The event will start at 11.00; it will include 80 miles of daylight selective in the smooth forestry commission Brendon Hill complex and the famous Porlock Hill. The route will be very compact with a lunch halt and all cars finished by 18.00.

The night road section will be approximately 90 miles and will use straight forward navigation - however, it will be very competitive.

The event will be all over by the early hours of Sunday Oct 11th. A few beers and an awards breakfast on Sunday will give everyone time to return home.

The entry is limited to 70 Enduro cars, will be under £300 and will be on a first come first serve basis.
