Time Running out for Competitors

Entry List opened over the Christmas break and the list is expanding. Some of you may not have spotted the £20 deposit  to secure an entry the and opportunity to defer payment until after the Audi SW – we know there’s a credit crunch on but please use our easy payment terms to enter early.

At £199 and no hotel needed this is perhaps the lowest budget event of the year. The entry fee includes supper and two presentation photos from M&H Photography Selectif Design is now complete. We have two large and two smaller venues during the day and two forests in the evening. All the selectifs are smooth and there is mixture of twisty concrete and loose-surface tracks; total mileage is about 50.

Recce notes from the big venues:

Woodbridge – scene of the perhaps the best single venue stage rally in England – is a massive venue; the ‘new’ runway is two miles long but we don’t use any of it, favouring the ‘technical area’ and buddleia sections – tight, twisty, gravelly and slippery with trees to hit on the sections that we’ve (literally) cut out of the undergrowth on the ‘old’ WW2 runway. Four selectifs totalling eight miles including the never raced or rallied perimeter track. Each is used twice, once in each direction, then the whole lot is joined together at the end….

Bentwaters – often seen on Top Gear, used for the first time on a CMC gymkhana a few weeks ago. We have a three-mile selectif around the dispersal area, longest straight is 200m, a mixture of tight slippery and fast flowing bends. This selectif is run four times, twice in each direction during the day.

Forests – having recced thirty miles of tracks in Rendlesham and Tunstall forests we’ve selected ten of the best – good surfaces, lots of bends, short straights and some fast sweeping stuff. The evening route will be two laps of the woods separated by a couple of short plot and bash tulip sections on remote country lanes (no whites).

Road-book design is complete – all tulips with overview maps and detailed selectif diagrams.

You’ll need maps 156 & 169 (not 155 as stated in the regs – the route is now more compact, but better, than originally planned).
As and incentive to marshals we have £100 cash prize draw and free food for those marshalling both legs of the event. You can enter and pay on-line at www.chelmsfordmc.co.uk between now and 14th March 2009.
