Update 2310
The cars have now reached the rest halt at Ashwater where there’s many a tale of woe in Fernworthy forest. Easy retirements include Martin Wedge and South African Lee. All selectifs have run but the equipment van held up in Fernworthy meaning the rally is currently running half an hour late. Many cars have had moments in the snow including Jamie Turner running first car on the road was the trail blazer but had an off, he’s worked his way back up the field and was on a mission and took 37 seconds out of Mark Appleton and ten out of brother Owen.Phil Harris has a manifold problem but his catchy slowly policy looks to be working. Early leaders Andy Stewart are going well but had a mud splattering moment in Fernworthy.Gary White and Alf Chanter ended up in a ditch but lost minimal time after Brian Weir stopped to give them a tow. Carl Hawkins and Ian Tullie got caught in a queue after one car blocked the selectif after getting stuck.More when we have it.... 08:00 Newton Abbot Racecourse: Bright, breezy and a crisp morning here at the racecourse. Competitors starting to arrive and I’ve just had my first hug of the weekend from Jamie and Dan.
New fluorescent numbers look good and hopefully we should be in for a good day. The weather report varies with the snow melting in the sunshine but in the shade it could be fun! The overnight frost not as bad as predicted.
