Glover & Peters Bustard Bonanza

Big congratulations to Dale Glover/David Peters Vauxhall Nova who dominated the third round of the Championship, leading from the first test until the end of the event. Not only fast on the tests but driving with a consistant speed as others around them fell off the leadearboard.

Special well done to David Peters who had only competed on 12 cars until the Audi South west.

The East Anglain pairing finished over three minutes clear of the field on what proved to be a tough event on the mind, body and soul of the crews and cars.

Freddie Camp/Graham Lacey secured a magnificent second and their best endurance result to date, one of the oldest pairings in this branch of motosport proving they've still got what it takes.

Third went to the Rover of Owen Turner/Andrew Dadswell had a torrid event in which they picked up no less than five punctures.

It seems the night leg result were a true South west affair:

Night leg results were:

=1  200pts (10 mins) Freddie/Graham

=1  200pts (10 mins) James How/Nic Jones

3    240pts (12 mins) Andrew Lees/Simon Lassam

=4  260pts (13 mins) Owen Turner/Andrew Dadswell

=4  260pts (13 mins) DaleGlover/David Peters

=4  260pts (13 mins) Martin Clarke/Bob Rutherford

=4  260pts (13 mins) Dave Town/Ben Grenfield

Mike Reed/Carl Sorenson and Rob Reynolds/John Stringer had held second and third after the daylight tests, but problems during the night dropped them both down the order.

EACS winners Jamie Turner/Dan Harrison were another crew to suffer multiple punctures, including one they had to change on the first Worthy Farm selectif drpping them well done the order a charge was on the card at tea time but this was scuppered as they fell foul of punctures. As a result they only managed a sixth place finish.

A special mention in dispatches has to go to Claire Abrey / Matt Fowle, Matt had secured a great second in class on the Pirelli Rally in his historic Mk 1, traffic held him up and he arrived in Somerset just in time to take the start flustered, hot bothered and bewildered the intrepid crew set-off and finished 16th come the end. A fine effort!!

Here's how Matt made the start

Don't worry it's all under control..!

          Where is he?!

Nearly time for Alicia to step in

But wait here comes SuperMatt!

I told you not to panic...

Now lets get on with it

Phil Harris/James Aldridge led the Championship before the Bustard but their event ended on the very first test when a driveshaft broke on their Nova. Thomas Yates/Jason Woolacott and the father and son pairing of Jeremy and James Crook all had problems early on meaning they wouldn't reach the tea halt.
