The formal prize giving ceremony and end of season lunch for the 2009 Endurance Road Rally Championship supported by Sportway Tyres was held recently at Milton Hill House near Abingdon.

Before the formal proceedings, over 50 championship contenders heard the latest in hints and tips on car preparation and competition from front runner and Endurance preparation wizard Owen Turner.  He used the opportunity to emphasise the scope for team work in the car in Endurance Rallying.

This was followed by a forum discussion chaired by the inventor of the category, Philip Young.  Discussion included the class structure, event format, ways to make the category more attractive to newcomers and the thorny problem of control tyres.

An excellent lunch followed and awards were presented by Richard Egger on behalf of all the championship supporters, Sportway Tyres, Richard Egger Insurance, Corbeau seats, Gaz shocks and the Rover Centre.

Following a later meeting of event organisers it is confirmed that the 2010 Sportway Tyres championship will start with the Great Bustard Rally on 10/11th April followed by the Huntsman on 26/27th June.  The Championship will consist of between 5 and 7 rounds with further details to be announced in due course.  Tyres for next year will be from the MSA blue book list IV with the exception of Silverstone and capacity classes will be up to 1100cc and 1101 – 1400cc.
