The 2010 Championship Rounds
There are five confirmed Championship events for 2010. The dates for your diary: -- April 10,11 - The Great Bustard - S&SCC/RAFMSA - E.Somerset & S.Wiltshire
Dick Appleton & Paul Heal promise us a traditional Bustard weekend. Lots of Worthy Farm (regraded), loads of other venues, straightforward Night Section and considerable time at the bar (if you have the energy). A great “social” couple of days, worth the entry just for the Worthy Farm experience. - June 26,27 - The Huntsman - Carlton & DMC - Nottingham
Carlton and DMC have announced the cancellation of the The 2010 Huntsman - September 3,4 - The Bullnose - Oxford MC - Oxford
A welcome addition to the Championship the popular Bullnose retains most of the successful organising team from previous years. The Saturday day format will be similar to 2009 with plenty of friendly farmers letting us loose on their tracks and stubble fields. At the time of writing, Oxford MC are finalising their plans to include a simple night section. This will probably be on the Friday evening but keep an eye on the club website for updates. - October 9,10 - The Exmoor - Tavern MC - West Somerset
If you want to experience forest driving at its best then this is the event for you. Expect over 70 miles of classic forest tracks (Martin Clark promises to avoid the short rough bit for 2010) with some Selectives over 15 miles. Short link sections mean there is action all day and into the evening. This is followed by a pre-plot night section on some of Exmoor’s best lanes. The organisers are hoping to find a start/finish venue for 2010 that will keep the bar open well after everyone has finished. This was one of the most popular events in 2009 – don’t miss it. - October 30,31 - EACS Endurance - Chelmsford MC - East Anglia
Paul Barrett and his experienced team at Chelmsford MC are busy finalising plans for their 2010 Endurance Rally. The date change to the end of October increases their options and we can look forward to the usual Endurance challenges coupled with slick organisation. Further information will be posted as it becomes available. - November 27,28 - Harvest Rally - South Hams MC - Devon
Based in the area around Bodmin, the Harvest Rally moves into Forests not used since the Audi South West Endurance Rally 2008. Starting at lunchtime on Saturday the event uses over 40 Smooth Forestry Selectif miles, before taking in approximately 100 miles of the finest lanes with simple straight forward navigation and jogularity sections. No Tricks or MENSA clues and an entry fee of around £260. The Rally HQ has loads of room for trailers and is less than half a mile from the A30 so is very accessible. The event’s Clerk of the Course is current Endurance Road Rally Competitor, Richard Brooks, who is being supported by Audi SWER Director Roger Gillard, and they have the full support of the team that presented the Audi South West Endurance Rally. Regs and Entry will be available from July/August, details when available at www.shmc.co.uk
